Burnley have completed their first signing since their relegation back to the Championship.

The Clarets were relegated from the Premier League last season just a year on from winning the second division, and have now lost their manager, Vincent Kompany, who has joined Bayern Munich.

They are looking to rebuild, however, and have made their first addition of the summer in the form of right back Shurandy Sambo.

The 22-year-old, who is a Netherlands Under-21 international, has signed a four-year deal with the club after leaving PSV on a free transfer.

He made 15 appearances for the club in total having joined from SV Braakhuizen.

'I'm very happy to be here and I'm ready to show myself now,' he said. 'I chose Burnley because it's a historic club with a good fan base and it was the right choice for me.

'The club, the fans, the stadium, the teammates, everything is a part of it and I just felt good instantly and it felt like the right place for me.

'It's been a good first week in training, the coaches have been really good and everyone around me has helped me settle in already.'

Sambo also spent the 2022-23 season on loan with Sparta Rotterdam, where he played all but four games in the Eredivisie.
