LEEDS RHINOS YOUNGSTER RILEY LUMB PRAISED AFTER IMPRESSIVE OUTING FOR DUAL-REG PARTNER

Halifax Panthers might have suffered a heavy defeat to Sheffield Eagles over the weekend, but one of Leeds Rhinos' young talents came out of it with plenty of credit.

Riley Lumb was a part of the Panthers side that lost 46-0 on Sunday as part of the club's ongoing dual-registration partnership. The likes of Kieran Hudson and Jack Smith have also played for Fax so far this year since the link-up was announced ahead of the season.

Lumb was the sole Rhinos representative for Fax at the weekend and he made an impression. He was named as the sponsor's man of the match after an energetic performance in which he put his hand up for a number of tough carries on his own try line, while also making a high number of metres for his side.

His performance earned praise from Halifax coach Liam Finn, who was pleased with the youngster's outing.

"I thought he was really good and really tough," Finn told BBC Radio Leeds. "Everything we've seen and been told about him by Leeds was backed up by his performance. He's a tough young lad who does his job on the wing to the best of his ability and he's got some talent within that.

"I've no doubt Riley will go a long way. As much as that (the result) is disappointing for us as a team, he will learn a lot from that game, being up against it for most of his debut."
