LIVERPOOL GET GREENLIGHT TO SECURE PERFECT £61.5M REAL MADRID TRANSFER, BUT MAN UTD, ARSENAL COULD BURST KLOPP BUBBLE A SECOND TIME

Jurgen Klopp has the chance to sign a Real Madrid player at the second time of asking, though the ideal £61.5m transfer is under threat from Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea, per a report.

The biggest issue at Anfield this season has unquestionably been Klopp’s sub-par midfield. Contrary to popular belief, Liverpool were fully aware their engine room would be a problem and did try to remedy the situation last summer.

Indeed, Liverpool bid for France international Aurelien Tchouameni who was of Monaco at the time. However, once Real Madrid entered the mix, Tchouameni’s mind was made up.

“The first club to show interest in me was Liverpool,” Tchouameni previously told Le Parisien (via talkSPORT). “There were discussions, but as soon as Real Madrid entered, my mind was made up.”

“I didn’t hesitate for a second. I told my agent, take me to Real Madrid.”

But rather than pursue alternative targets, Liverpool rather dubiously opted to keep their powder dry and ride out what they had for one more year. Given how the current campaign has unfolded, that decision has proven a mistake.

A midfield rebuild is on the agenda this summer with Jude Bellingham Liverpool’s primary target. Other targets include Mason Mount of Chelsea and Wolves’ Matheus Nunes, according to Fabrizio Romano.

However, according to a remarkable report out of Spain, Liverpool have an unexpected second shot at bringing Tchouameni to England.

Tchouameni available after one year in Spain?

Via Goal, it’s claimed the sparkling form of Eduardo Camavinga is prompting Real to consider whether they actually need Tchouameni.

Camavinga has been in imperious form since the World Cup and has supplanted Tchouameni in the starting eleven. When it comes to picking his best XI for the crunch clashes, manager Carlo Ancelotti always favours Camavinga.

With Toni Kroos and Luka Modric still going strong and Federico Valverde also on the books, the Spanish report claims Real are ‘rethinking’ Tchouameni’s future at the club.

It’s acknowledged the 23-year-old has barely put a foot wrong. Instead, it’s simply a case of those ahead of him – Camavinga in particular – playing to a higher standard.

If Real are serious about signing one of Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland to eventually replace Karim Benzema, serious funds will have to be raised from somewhere.

Tchouameni won’t lack for suitors and should be able to recoup most if not all of the initial €80m Real paid Monaco in 2022.

Indeed, the report adds Real would only consider a sale for a ‘minimum’ of €70m (approx. £61.5m). If multiple clubs spark a bidding war, they’ll generate much more.

On that front, it’s noted Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and PSG are all contenders if Tchouameni departs. Clearly, Liverpool would not have the move all their own way.
