WATFORD INTERESTED IN RIVAL CHAMPIONSHIP DEFENDER

Watford are reportedly keen to bring QPR defender Kenneth Paal, to the club this summer.

The 27-year-old has been with the club since 2022 and only has one year left on his current contract with the club. The player has made 87 appearances, whilst also contributing five goals since joining.

Now, according to journalist Darren Witcoop,  the player could be set to depart for league rivals Watford.

Queens Park Rangers are reportedly open to selling Paal as a new deal is now unlikely to be accepted.

The Dutchman is attracting interest from some other clubs, but the Hornets are the ones seemingly leading the race to sign him as they’re actively looking for a new left-back before the new season kicks off.

What does Kenneth Paal bring to Watford Football Club?

Watford had Jamal Lewis on loan from Newcastle United last season which could be argued ended in disappointment for all parties.

Wing play, especially coming from the defensive positions is a key element to the club’s attack, with crosses targeting Danish striker Mileta Rajovic looking likely to be a key source of goals next season. Lewis’ contribution in this area often fell flat leading to attacks breaking down before they could reach the key moments.

Paal’s statistics from last year in both crossing and key chances created were higher than Lewis which could prove to be very useful to the team with the 6’4 striker always inside the box.

QPR’s team have arguably not been performing at their best which may have had an impact on his performances, so a move could be best for all parties.

Tom Cleverly has been hard at work implementing his new style of play after becoming the club’s permanent manager and a quality addition such as Paal could help him achieve his goals if the move does come to fruition.
