WHICH PREMIER LEAGUE REFEREES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO OFFICIATE LIVERPOOL AND EVERTON GAMES?

It has been revealed which Premier League referees are not allowed to officiate Liverpool and Everton games. Stuart Atwell has been heavily scrutinised this week for his role in the Toffees' controversial win over Nottingham Forest at Goodison Park.

The 41-year-old, who was born in Nuneaton – a town in Warwickshire – was appointed lead Video Assistant Referee for the clash, with Simon Long named as his assistant. During the game, Anthony Taylor, the on-field referee, dismissed appeals for a penalty in favour of the Midlands-based outfit on three separate occasions.

While the 45-year-old may not have been convinced by what he had seen in real-time, Atwell adjudged his colleague to have made the correct decision after several reviews at Stockley Park. Furious that VAR overlooked several incidents, Nottingham Forest published an eye-opening statement on X, formerly known as Twitter, warning that their 'patience has been tested'.
