HAMILTON FUMING IN ITALY AFTER QUALIFYING: 'I'M ABSOLUTELY FURIOUS"

Lewis Hamilton is "absolutely furious" with himself after qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix. The British driver secured P6 on the grid for Sunday's race and will start ahead of both Red Bull cars. But the seven-time World Champion believes he should've got a better result.

Hamilton will start from sixth, whereas his teammate George Russell will start from on the second-row in third. He will be attacking the McLaren drivers at the start, whereas Hamilton will have to negotiate the Ferrari cars off the line and keep an attacking Verstappen in his mirrors.

"Furious. Absolutely furious," Hamilton reacted bluntly on Sky Sports. "I think I could have been on the front row, and didn't do the job. Lost a tenth of two in the first and second corner and the last corner," Hamilton explained.

It's not the first time Hamilton has been angry over his qualifying results in 2024. The Brit even claimed he wouldn't qualify ahead of Russell for the rest of his Mercedes career, but has since proved that wrong. Still, Hamilton wants to prove it wrong more regularly.

"Qualifying has been my weakness and I can't figure it out," Hamilton said. The Mercedes driver will look to gain positions in the race as he did last weekend in the Netherlands. There he started 14th on the grid and scored points on Sunday.
