LEICESTER CITY SWOOP FOR EAGLES STRIKER

Leicester City look to have bolstered their striking options, by signing Crystal Palace striker, Odsonne Édouard on a season long loan, as reported by Fabrizio Romano

Nketiah signing paves the way for Édouard exit

With it looking like Palace will sign Eddie Nketiah in a deal reportedly worth up to £30 million, it is clear they are putting their faith in the pacy Arsenal Academy graduate. This would lead Édouard to further fall down the pecking order in Oliver Glasner’s squad, having already acted as a backup for big striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. With playing time looking likely to be at a premium, a move away would be the logical move for former French U-21 international.

Foxes look to be clever in the transfer market

With possible PSR charges pending, the need for Leicester to pick up bargains is imperative and Édouard looks to be a shrewd move by Steve Cooper. With a potential transfer value of £20 million and having been prolific in his time at Celtic, with an average of 1 goal in every 2 games, Édouard is definitely a handy player to have.

Although he has not hit those heights in his in his time at Palace, having scored just 21 goals in 103 games, Édouard offers a different type of striker that will appeal to Leicester. At six foot two inches, he immediately offers a height they lack in their other forwards. Édouard is good in the air and is able to hold the ball up well and could be the perfect foil for the evergreen Jamie Vardy, Patson Daka and recent signing Jordan Ayew.

His ability to maintain possession and play as a target man could be vital, especially if Steve Cooper employs similar tactics to his time at Forest, where the low block and quick transition were key to their survival.
