LIVERPOOL TRANSFER NEWS: REDS HOPING FOR 'COLLAPSE' IN REAL MADRID TALKS - FABRIZIO ROMANO

Liverpool are reportedly hoping for a 'collapse' in Real Madrid's talks with one of their transfer targets.

Both clubs are interested in signing Lille defender Leny Yoro but his preference has been made clear.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Yoro wants to join Madrid and they are already in negotiations.

"Yoro keeps giving priority to Real Madrid, now waiting on clubs to agree on a deal," he said.

"Real Madrid have also been informed that he will not sign a new deal at Lille, no chance - the strategy is clear.

"PSG and Liverpool are waiting only in case the deal collapses."

Interest in Leny Yoro

Real Madrid want to sign Yoro as a replacement for Nacho, who recently left on a free transfer to Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah.

Two of Los Blancos' remaining central defenders, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger, are on the wrong side of 30, so it makes sense for them to target a young player.

As for Liverpool, they are also looking to strengthen their defence ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

Virgil van Dijk is still world-class, but Ibrahima Konate, Joe Gomez and Jarrell Quansah are all a long way from reaching his level.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint-Germain have made it their objective to sign the best young French talent in recent years.

Yoro would certainly fit the bill, though it would appear that he is far more interested in moving to La Liga than staying in Ligue 1.
